PHOENIX, Arizona — Police say a suspect has died after an officer-involved shooting near the Metrocenter Mall in Phoenix on Tuesday afternoon.

 

According to Phoenix police, around 2:30 p.m. officers received a call for a report of a man with a gun in the transit center, near Interstate 17 and Dunlap Avenue.

 

The suspect was reportedly “manipulating a handgun” while on a bench before police arrived.

 

As two officers got on the scene, a security guard directed them to the suspect who was on a bus.

 

The officers entered the bus and ordered the suspect to not touch the gun. The suspect reportedly ignored their commands and produced a handgun from his pocket.

 

Both officers fired their weapons, hitting the suspect. Police say the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The officers were not hurt in the incident.

 

Police say a live handgun round was found on the ground later, near where the shooting happened.

 

The suspect has not been revealed at this time.
